In honor of a quite
remarkable personal season for Cristiano Ronaldo, Nike celebrates one of the
world’s greatest footballers with a new, limited edition Mercurial.
The Mercurial Vapor IX CR7 Special Edition commemorates Cristiano Ronaldo’s incredible season, in which he averaged more than one goal a game; became the quickest player in his club’s history to reach 200 goals for the club; and was officially recognized as the best player in the world. His Ballon d’Or win was pretty much sealed when Messi got injured late last year and Ronaldo continued to put in unparalleled performances each week.

The boot features a
clean and simple white upper — a nod to Ronaldo’s affinity for white boots
— and a special gold soleplate. Added to that is some premium detailing
and a numbered heel highlighting the limited run of this special Mercurial
release. And there will be a few pairs available for those of you out there
willing to splash out on a $300 boot.
Denis Dekovic, Design
Director for Nike Football Footwear stated that:
“Cristiano Ronaldo is
such an exceptional player, and we wanted to celebrate all his accomplishments
this season with a unique boot to honor his amazing success.”
Since Ronaldo is injured
right now, we have to wait until his return to see them in action. That is
tentitively set for April 16 when Madrid play Barcelona in the Copa Del Rey
final. Definitely a good occasion to break out a swag pair of boots like these!
For those interested in
a pair, there is only going to be One Hundred of the Mercurial
Vapor IX CR7 Special Edition white boot available for retail, hitting
shelves on April 8. Keep an eye on Nike.com,
where most pairs will be listed for sale.
What is your verdict on
this release and would you want one of the 100 pairs available?
